If you're having trouble connecting your Instagram account to Lazyspond, this guide will help you fix it.
Common Connection Issues
Issue 1: Empty Account List
What it looks like: When you click "Connect with Facebook", you see an empty list of Instagram accounts
Cause: Your Instagram account isn't properly set up
Solution:
- Go back to your Instagram app
- Go to Settings > Edit Profile
- Scroll down to Page
- Verify a Facebook Business Page is connected
- If not, create or connect one
- Wait 5 minutes
- Try connecting again in Lazyspond
Issue 2: "Permission Denied" Error
What it looks like: You see an error message saying "Permission denied" or "Access denied"
Cause: You haven't granted Lazyspond permission to access your messages
Solution:
- Go to your Instagram app
- Go to Settings > Messages and story replies
- Go to Message controls
- Under Connected Tools, toggle ON "Allow access to messages"
- Try connecting again in Lazyspond
Issue 3: Account Disconnects After Connecting
What it looks like: You successfully connect, but the next day it shows as disconnected
Cause: Instagram revoked the connection (usually due to security or permission changes)
Solution:
- Go to Settings > Connected Accounts
- Click "Disconnect"
- Wait 30 seconds
- Click "Connect with Facebook"
- Go through the connection process again
- Make sure to accept all permissions
Issue 4: "This Account Isn't Eligible"
What it looks like: You see an error saying your account isn't eligible
Cause: Your account doesn't meet Meta's requirements
Solution:
- Verify your account is a Professional Account (Business or Creator)
- Verify it's connected to a Facebook Business Page
- Verify message access is enabled
- If all are correct, wait 24 hours and try again

Step-by-Step Connection Guide
If you're having trouble, follow these steps carefully:
Step 1: Verify Professional Account
- Open Instagram app
- Go to Settings (gear icon)
- Tap Account type and tools
- Verify you see "Switch to Personal Account" option
- If you see this, you have a Professional Account ✅
- If you see "Switch to Professional Account", you need to switch
Step 2: Switch to Professional Account (if needed)
- Go to Settings > Account type and tools
- Tap "Switch to Professional Account"
- Choose Business or Creator
- Follow the prompts
- Wait 5 minutes for the change to sync
Step 3: Verify Facebook Page Connection
- Open Instagram app
- Go to Settings > Edit Profile
- Scroll down to Page
- Tap Page
- You should see a Facebook Page listed
- If yes, you're connected ✅
- If no, tap "Create or Connect a Page"
Step 4: Create or Connect Facebook Page
If you don't have a Facebook Page connected:
- Tap "Create or Connect a Page"
- Choose "Create a New Page" or "Connect an Existing Page"
- Follow the prompts
- Wait 5 minutes for the connection to sync
Step 5: Enable Message Access
- Open Instagram app
- Go to Settings > Messages and story replies
- Tap Message controls
- Under Connected Tools, look for "Allow access to messages"
- Toggle it ON
- Confirm if prompted
Step 6: Connect to Lazyspond
- Go to your Lazyspond dashboard
- Click "Connect with Facebook"
- You'll be redirected to Meta's login page
- Log in with your Instagram account
- Select your Instagram account from the list
- Accept all permissions
- You should be redirected back to Lazyspond
- Your account should now show as "Connected"
Troubleshooting by Error Message
"Invalid OAuth State"
Cause: Your session expired or there was a security issue
Solution:
- Log out of Lazyspond
- Clear your browser cookies
- Log back in
- Try connecting again
"The Redirect URI is Mismatch"
Cause: There's a configuration issue on Meta's side
Solution:
- Try a different browser
- Clear browser cache and cookies
- Try again
- If still not working, contact support@lazyspond.com
"User Cancelled Login or Did Not Fully Authorize"
Cause: You didn't complete the authorization process
Solution:
- Click "Connect with Facebook" again
- Make sure to accept ALL permissions
- Don't skip any steps
- Complete the entire process
"This App Isn't Set Up Properly"
Cause: There's an issue with Lazyspond's Meta configuration
Solution:
- Wait 1 hour
- Try again
- If still not working, contact support@lazyspond.com
Advanced Troubleshooting
Check Instagram App Permissions
- Open Instagram app
- Go to Settings > Apps and Websites
- Look for Lazyspond
- If it's listed, tap it
- Verify it has the following permissions:
- Access to messages
- Access to profile
- Access to insights
- If permissions are missing, remove the app and reconnect
Check Facebook Page Permissions
- Go to facebook.com
- Go to Settings > Apps and Websites
- Look for Lazyspond
- If it's listed, verify it has permission to manage your page
- If not, remove and reconnect
Verify Account Ownership
Make sure you're the owner or admin of:
- Your Instagram account
- Your Facebook Business Page
If you're not, ask the owner to grant you admin access.
Check for Account Restrictions
