Quickstart Guide

Welcome to Lazyspond! This guide will walk you through setting up your first automation in just 2 minutes. By the end, you'll have Instagram DMs automatically replying to your followers 24/7.

What You'll Need

Before starting, ensure you have:

  • An Instagram account (Business or Creator type)
  • A Facebook Business Page connected to your Instagram account
  • Message access enabled in your Instagram settings

Step 1: Connect Your Instagram Account

  1. Log in to your Lazyspond dashboard
  2. Click the "Connect with Facebook" button
  3. You'll be redirected to Meta's login page
  4. Select the Instagram account you want to connect
  5. Accept all permissions requested by Lazyspond
  6. Return to your dashboard — your account is now connected!

If you see an empty account list or connection errors, make sure you've completed all 3 setup steps in your Instagram settings (Professional Account, Facebook Page, Message Access). See Account Setup & Prerequisites for details.

Step 2: Create Your First Automation

  1. Navigate to Automations in your dashboard
  2. Click "Create New"
  3. Define your automation:
    • Keyword: Enter the word users will reply with (e.g., GUIDE, PROMO, INFO)
    • Reply Message: Type the exact message you want to send automatically
    • Trigger Type: Choose between Story Keywords or Comment Keywords (or both)
  4. Click "Save Automation"

That's it! Your automation is now live.

Example Automation

Let's say you're a fitness coach:

  • Keyword: GUIDE
  • Reply Message: Hey! 💪 Thanks for the interest! Here's your free workout guide: [link]. Let me know if you have any questions!
  • Trigger Type: Story Keywords + Comment Keywords

Now, whenever someone replies to your Story with "GUIDE" or comments "GUIDE" on your posts, Lazyspond instantly sends your reply.

Step 3: Test Your Setup

To verify everything is working:

  1. Use a different Instagram account (a friend's account works great)
  2. Go to your connected account's Instagram profile
  3. Reply to one of your Stories with your keyword (e.g., "GUIDE")
  4. Within seconds, you should receive an automated DM with your reply message
  5. Check your Lazyspond dashboard — the lead should appear in your Leads section

If you see the automated reply and the lead in your dashboard, you're all set! Your automation is working perfectly.

Understanding Keyword Matching

Lazyspond uses case-insensitive, substring matching for keywords. This means:

  • Keyword: GUIDE
  • Will match: "GUIDE", "guide", "Can I get the guide?", "Send me the guide please"
  • Will NOT match: "GDE" or "GUID"

This flexibility means users don't need to type your keyword exactly — they just need to include it in their message.

What Happens Next?

Once a user triggers your automation:

  1. Instant Reply: They receive your automated message within seconds
  2. Lead Captured: Their name, Instagram handle, keyword matched, and timestamp are recorded in your dashboard
  3. 24-Hour Window: You have 24 hours to send follow-up messages before Meta closes the conversation window
